The « bead breakers » are widely used in our industry but sometimes can be retreading’s enemy. When misused, they can damage used tires at their most sensitive area, the bead. These tires could have been easily retreaded but they become unrecoverable afterwards.
See pictures below that clearly show external appearance and the effect on steel cables after skiving. Unfortunately in certain rare cases it’s inevitable but you must keep in mind that I easily give the benefit of the doubt when I see that the tool has been moved a few times!
